Win up to £500 gardening equipment for your school!

Has your school entered this competition? Closing date for entries is Friday 15th February!

We are delighted to be sponsoring the Growing Communities Healthy Packed Lunch Plot Competition for the second year running. All primary schools in Essex are invited to take part in designing a healthy kitchen garden plot and also to create a recipe for a healthy packed lunch using the produce.

The Growing Communities project is managed by the Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE). Its overall aim is to increase the number of people in the county growing, sourcing and using local food in their community, in a way that encourages healthy eating, community cohesion and environmental sustainability.

We are asking children to think about the vegetables, fruit and herbs that could easily by grown at school or at home and when harvested, could be used to make the perfect healthy packed lunch. The ‘dish’ can be sweet or savoury but must include the produce from the plot. You can also use additional ingredients for example, pasta, rice, bread, couscous, meat, fish or chicken and some seasoning! We want to hear some exciting and new ideas for lunches and want children to put a twist on the usual packed lunch and create an explosion for the taste buds!

All entries will receive a free packet of seeds supplied by Kings Seeds.
