Helping local communities to get growing in 2021

Now, more than ever, we have seen the joy and therapeutic benefits that gardening can bring to people’s lives. Our aim is to get more people growing in 2021. This year, we will be supporting two charities and a community interest company who use gardening to help vulnerable groups, including refugees, the unemployed, adults with mental health issues and children.

We will be supporting:

Together We Grow  is located at the Big Garden in High Woods Country Park, Colchester. This community interest company improves communities and individuals’ lives by encouraging engagement with nature and food growing. Perrywood Tiptree will support the ‘Together we grow at home’ project for Refugee Action Colchester and raise funds for a much-needed mini-bus, allowing more people to access projects at the garden.

Abberton Rural Training has training locations in Halstead and Wormingford. The charity provides practical and skills training alongside therapeutic support to individuals in Essex and surrounding areas. Courses focus on rural skills, environment and horticulture. Perrywood will be raising funds for laptops and tools as well as supporting their well being planting scheme at all their training locations.

We will also be supporting  Greenfingers Charity, a small national charity dedicated to supporting the children who use hospices around the UK, along with their families, by creating inspiring gardens for them to relax in and enjoy. Perrywood will be raising money for Garden Re-Leaf day in March. The charity also need help to build a new garden at Haven House in Woodford, Essex.

As well as supporting these, we also like to support other local communities, schools and regional charities in any way we can. For more details,  please  see our ‘supporting the community’ page.
