This morning we enjoyed welcoming some special visitors to Perrywood. Pupils from Baynards Primary School, which is just up the road in Tiptree, have set up their classroom role play area as a garden centre, and came to see the real thing in action. They were very enthusiastic and many of them knew lots of the fruit, vegetables and herbs. They were encouraged to smell the roses and herbs, and to look at the flowers which attract bees.
The venus fly traps and pitcher plants were a highlight, and they finished the visit by planting up a begonia to take back to school for their minature gardens. We thoroughly enjoyed their visit and it was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm for plants and gardening.
We also heard from Mildene School in Tiptree who we recently sent a raffle prize to for their Diamond Jubilee Day. They raised an amazing £1300 and from the photos they sent us it looks like they really enjoyed themselves.
