Be inspired by your local open gardens!

Gardening can really help your health, both physically and mentally, being outdoors is amazing whether that’s in your own garden or walking through your local open garden.

There are 68 homeowners in Essex (and hundreds across the UK) who open their gardens each year as part of the National Garden Scheme. Money is raised for charities including Macmillan Cancer SupportMarie Curie, and Hospice UK and £150,000 was donated in 2021 by Essex alone.

Feeringbury Manor, Feering

If you haven’t visited any of these gardens, we really encourage you to do so. They range from small to large, traditional to contemporary and one thing they all have in common is garden and plant mad owners, who will leave you inspired to get planting in your own garden.

Scrips House, Coggeshall

The National Garden Scheme are also looking for new gardens, small and large, and if you are unsure if your garden is worth visiting, they say “if you’re passionate about your garden and your friends and family tell you how lovely it is, then it’s very likely other people will want to visit your garden too.”

If you would like a copy of the National Garden Scheme schedule booklet to look at which gardens you can visit in your local area,  please pick one up in-store or view it online here.
