Hannah’s Chelsea Highlights – The Outdoor Gardens and Exhibits

Our Communications & HR Director, Hannah, visited the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on Tuesday. She enjoyed the creativity and planting combinations in the gardens.

Here are Hannah’s outdoor garden and exhibit highlights:

The Blue Garden by @tomwilkesrios

“This was a small space packed full of interesting plants like agave and succulents. Set against a striking blue and orange background which set the plants off beautifully. It made me smile and it took me to the Mediterranean. I could almost smell the sun cream.”

The Mind Garden by Andy Sturgeon

“Andy showed us how combining light, bright and dark colours can really work in a planting scheme. Dramatic burgundy poppies set against cheerful lime green euphorbia, relaxing pale yellow achillea and white daisies. It’s interwoven with foliage of different shapes and sizes which adds a lot of interest – the large salvia and smaller leaves of the grey leaved rose.”

Out of the Shadows by Kate Gould

“Another space with tropical planting, heavy on the foliage with a hint of colour from white, blue and orange flowers. It shows how a small garden can really benefit from specimen trees or palms, underplanted with perennials. Together they enclose and enhance the seating area with the fire pit. I can imagine it to be a lovely social space at night, with the solar lights amongst the ferns.”

Planet Studio

“This was one of the houseplant studios and the disco vibe was amazing.  Check out the cool rotating hanging basket!”

Senecio angel wings

“Seeing senecio angel wings planted up in tubs and raised borders was great as it’s a fairly new plant. It was working well in both a muted scheme and a more striking Jubilee-themed container, showing its versatility.”
