Christmas is the perfect time to experiment with decorating your table. Our Visual Merchandiser Ambers shares her top tips to help you wow your guests with a stunning table display.
Tablescapes are best when they are beautiful yet functional. The best way to ensure you get your desired look is to have a play around with different textures and layers.
Start with your chosen table cloth or runner, then bring in your napkins, crockery and any centre pieces.
Choosing the right crockery
Usually your best crockery comes out at Christmas but using mix and match pieces can be a great look. Play around with layering to see what you think works best.
Tie it, knot it or fold it
With so many ways to display a napkin, the key is to experiment. My personal favourite is to tie a knot. I find something so rustic yet perfect about it.
Colours and added touches
Choose a colour scheme to match the style you want and add some leftover baubles, lights or ribbon that matches your Christmas tree.
Real flowers from the garden or artificial stems can add height, texture and a natural look to your table.
Candles will also soften the room and create a warm glow once the darker nights draw in. Or if you have little ones, try battery powered string lights for a similar effect.
