We are delighted to announce we have raised £11,912 for charities in 2020! The money was raised through a combination of inhouse and online events. In spite of challenging circumstances due to Covid 19, we are really pleased to have raised this sum and thank all our customers and team for their ongoing support.
This grand total includes the following donations to our ‘charities of the year’:
£6,394 for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity to improve facilities and fund new equipment at Colchester Hospital.
£1,943 for Kids Inspire to support children and young people recovering from traumatic experiences or dealing with emerging mental health difficulties in Essex.
£2,497 for Greenfingers Charity to create magical gardens for children in hospices.
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
In March, over 100 customers and team members joined us for a quiz night in the Coffee Shop & Restaurant and the event raised over £1,600 for Greenfingers Charity.
In April, several team members participated in the 2.6k running, walking and biking challenge and £842 was raised for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity.
Whether working at Perrywood or from home, many team members and customers took part in Floral Friday in September by sending in photos, and £150 was raised for Greenfingers Charity.
Instead of receiving any tips in 2020, the Coffee Shop team chose to collect money for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity. At the beginning of the year (pre-Covid 19), they raised over £2,700 thanks to the generous donations of our customers. This money was used to purchase items for dementia patients and fans for the wards. Where fans could not be donated and delivered due to Covid 19, the money was donated to the charity.
In December, our Junior Plant Buyer Zoe challenged herself to run 100 miles (in festive headwear!). She raised a fantastic £500 for Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity and with the match fund from Perrywood, a total of £1,000 was raised.
Along with many other events, our Perrywood Christmas party was cancelled in December. The Perrywood team was offered the choice of a Christmas gift. Several team members chose to donate their gift to charity. £400 was donated to Greenfingers Charity, £600 to Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity and £900 to Kids Inspire.
Teams at Perrywood also raised an extra £636 for Kids Inspire in December by baking and selling cakes and pastries, selling houseplants cuttings and taking part in our Christmas jumper day.
These are just some of the efforts in 2020 that contributed to the grand total of £11,912.
In addition to this sum, Perrywood has also donated over £4,000 of plants, gardening equipment and gift vouchers to local schools, charities and individuals. This includes sponsorship of the St Helena Hospice Gardening Group and our Christmas cheer campaign.
